What I Wore to a Wedding!

Hey! Welcome back! I hope you are well. This past weekend, I attended my boyfriend’s sister’s wedding. I have never been to one before so I was pretty excited. I was not too sure what to wear so my boyfriend’s mom sweetly offered to help me find something. We didn’t have to go hunting for anything because I was able to find my dress and shoes quite easily.  IMG_9952.jpg

The dress is from the Jennifer Lopez collection  at Kohls. I looked online for a link to it, but there are only plus sized version of this dress. (Link here)  This was one of the first dresses Itried on and I just loved it! The floral pattern was so pretty and the length was perfect for my five foot frame. Although the dress did have a button for the cleavage area, I did have to safety pin it a bit more because it was a bit too low for a wedding. This dress was so comfortable! I love the faux wrap style of this dress and the little waist belt to the dress to keep my waist cinched.dresswedding.jpg

I loved the dress but when I found the shoes for it, I was so happy with them We went to Off Broadway for our shoes and as soon as I saw these black velvet platform heels from Zigi Soho Garen , I was done looking for any others. I don’t wear heels very often so I wanted to go for a platform heel. The style of these was just everything I was looking for. Velvet is just so cute and gives the look a different texture to the outfit. They were super easy to walk in and I of course loved the extra height it gave me.platgeel.jpg

I’m not to fussy with accessories so I didn’t wear too much else as far as jewelry goes. I wore this evil eye bracelet and dangle earrings, but that was pretty much it.  braclet.jpg

The lipstick I decided on was Kat Von D’s Lolita. This is such a beautiful mauve pink color that went so well with my dress! I love this liquid lipstick.katlip.jpg

The wedding itself was so beautiful! They had the ceremony in Knoxville on a roof top in Market Square. The place where guest could lounge around was such a picturesque place I just wanted to move in!  It was such a nice day and everyone was so welcoming and happy. I was very grateful to have been invited and have been gifted my dress and shoes. IMG_9966.jpg

NYX Favorites!

Hello! I hope you are well. NYX is a makeup brand I have been finding myself gravitating towards. When I think of which brand I have more makeup from, it’s NYX. So why not talk to you about all of the products that have made an good/bad impression on me?

I have to do my brows with some kinds of brush to get them in the direction I want them to stay in. I got this in a charcoal color to fill in any gaps I have. The shape of the product is in one that helps me create the strokes of hair. The only thing I wish it had was a sharper end to better achieve the look of natural hair. The brush is perfect to blend it all out. For me this product is a 8/10. nyxeyebnyxbrowbrush

Lipstick is something I would wear a lot but these days I tend to only reach for it on special occasions. Lip liners are a must when I want a bold lip. It holds the color longer and shapes my lips. This one in London is the partner to my all time favorite lip product London in NYX soft matte lip creams. When I want it to last throughout the nightt, this lip liner is perfect. 10/10nyxlipliner.jpg

I’m a a sucker for single shadows. When I can’t invest in a palette, I can easily pick up a few of their single shadows and make a lil dupe palette myself. These Hot Single Eyeshadows could use some variety in shades and I have gotten a few that were to chalky to use. I looked past those and have loved them!  8/10nyxmattteshadow.jpg

Highlight for all! To me, this Duo Chromatic Illuminating Highlight is the dream of drugstore highlighters. I have this one in Synthetica and it has a peachy nude shade that gives a summery bronze look. I love the light pop of color it brings to a look. It almost glows like the skin is dewy. So lovely! 10/10nyxhdchrome.jpg

This Stay Matte Not Flat foundation got really feels like a higher end foundation! I loved the coverage it gave. The shade range is very small and I had to mix in some concealer to lighten it up. I hope they add to this collection because I really liked how Matte it kept my skin. I barely had any oils come through. 8/10nyxmattnoflat.jpg

Moisturize, protect and prime! This HD Studio Perfect Anti-Redness primer in green was something I didn’t really care for at first. It felt really slippery and I didn’t see any difference. I recently started using it again and have noticed that it does lighten up those red areas and covers those pores. It also keeps my makeup looking extra Matte as that is another claim of this primer. However, It does feel a bit heavy so I only apply a small dot in my entire face. 7/10nyx green primer.jpg

I love Nude Liners. I found that I can correct liner mistakes, conceal spots and brighten up my eyes. This Wonder Pencil is perfect for all of that. On those days when I need to look a bit more awake, applying this to my waterline is magic. My eyes instantly look brighter and it stays on for hours. I mess my liner up almost everyday and when I do, I can easily cover it up with a swipe of this. As for concealing, I have a shade too light for my skin but have tried it and it does made the spot less visible, but I would not say I solely use this to conceal. I do wish it was creamier. It tends to drag my waterline and eyelids. This wonder pencil comes in a few shades. A wider range of colors and a creamier formula would make this amazing. 8/10nyxwondereye.jpg

Last is the HD Eyeshadow Base. I’ve been using this for a few months and have definitely seen my shadow look brighter and  crease less. I have noticed that when I apply too much, it will make my eyelids look about cakey so I make sure to only apply a small amount. Over than that this is a good eyeshadow primer.9/10nyxeyeprimer.jpg

All Time Fashion Favorites!

Hello! I hope you are well. Today I am going to be sharing some of my all-time favorite fashion pieces. These are items that I wear year round and that keep me feeling good and comfy.

The first is my denim jacket from Forever 21. I have always loved the look of denim jackets and have been on the hunt for one that looked a bit more worn and that wasn’t cropped. This one is just right, even down to the button detail and the denim wash.I wear this jacket all the time. In the summer, I bring it along with me to work in case I get cold and it is always matches everything I am wearing.denimjackets2

High waisted jeans are an absolute must for me. Before these were a thing, I was always super uncomfortable wearing jeans that were so low. As soon as the high waist jean trend had all the stores with their own style of this jean, I stocked up on them. I love Forever 21’s stock of high waist jeans and these I found at the thrift store.  I am 5″0 so while I can cut the bottoms a few inches and they fit perfectly!highwaisted.jpg

Basic t-shirts are everything. They can be mixed and matched everything. I love having my basic shirts with the v-neck detail. I tend to have a variety of colors of these from Forever 21 and love how soft they are. Did I mention they are under $10 each?basicts.jpg

A good belt can elevate a simple jean and t-shirt look and I love that these belts can make a dress, romper or just shorts look more western and instantly amazing. This belt is from Rue 21 and I wear it with rompers and jeans. It makes the belt look like the star of the show.belttttt.jpg

A pair of shoes, for me, need to be comfortable, cute and that pair with everything. With that being said, I have too many black shoes. From loafers, to Mary Janes, to oxford shoes, they are all black. Yeah, I do have my share of colorful footwear, but I can’t get enough of my darker soles. They match any outfit and the shade of a darker shoe always looks sleek.shoessssss.jpg

As much as I love my shoes, I love bags. Black bags seem to take over my collection as well. I like cross body bags but I have recently been carrying around a tote type of bag. This one from H&M is like from Mary Poppins. It. Fits.Everything. I have so much crammed in this bag and still, it always looks amazing. This smaller one from Forever 21 (sensing a trend now) is one I take with me when I don’t need to lug around a big bag filled with things I just don’t need at the time.bagtote.jpg

Graphic t-shirts have always been something I am about. I love the laid-back vibe it gives to what could be a simple look. These are one I tend to wear alot I like that they are a bit cropped and aren’t too long or unflattering.graphic

July Favorites!

Hello! I hope you are well.  Today is the last day of the month so here are my July Favorites!

This All Nighter setting spray from Urban Decay smells a bit like hairspray but it helps everything stick. I like how my makeup is exactly where I left it several hours later.allnighterspray .jpg

I’ve talked about this product before but It really has made it into my favorites in the little time I have had it. This Velvetine lip, Schroom by Lime Crime is quickly becoming my favorite nude lip product. While I hate the smell of it, once it dries it is perfection. I love the brown tone of this product and how long it stays on! limecrime shroom.jpg

Dry shampoos are something I use about 3-4 times a week and I love that this one from Lush isn’t a aerosol spray. I have had this for almost a year and I haven’t even used 1/4 of it. I love this stuff. It smells citrusy and I love that it doesn’t make my hair feel heavy/gross.dry shampoo.jpg

Hyaluronic Acid is such an amazing product. I use this stuff at night and to blend in my concealer for my undereyes. It plumps my skin and makes it look super smooth and hydrated. hyaacid.jpg

Non-Beauty Favorites.

Sex and The City– I watched this show when I was in highschool but I didn’t exactly relate to it until I got older. I watched the entire series in 2 1/2 weeks. This show makes me feel more comfortable in my skin as a women in ever sense of the word. It has made me tear up countless of times and has made me laugh out loud while eating breakfast. I have just have a newfound love for this show and the lovely actors in it.

Yoga– I started yoga this month and I am feeling so good. My body feels more flexible, energized and a bit more toned. I can’t wait to roll my mat out and get to doing a downward dog. My pups even sit on the mat and take stretch their lil bods out.

New in- Home

Hello. I hope you are well. I have been gathering a few things and I wanted to talk to you about them all.  This is new in, home decor, coffee accessories, plants, etc. So let’s get into it.

I love having coffee or a latte from Dunkin Donuts because it is perfect and frothy. However, at home, my coffee never seems to taste how it does at a coffee place. Until I saw that milk frothers existed. I jumped at the chance to get myself one and am LOVING it. It is so easy to use and easy to clean. You can use it for cold and hot drinks. It is the Matcha DNA Milk Frother from Amazon. My coffee now taste like it’s from a cafe, everyday single morning. milkfrotherlove.jpgIMG_9359.jpg

Next is my little buddha from Ross. I have been becoming more aware of  living more mindful and I wanted to bring some decor in to help remind me to stay that way. I love having this little Buddha man on my table because I feel a bit more at peace when I see him.buddha.jpg

Some little plants I’ve gotten recently are this little cactus. It has grown alot since I got it but I love the small size of this plant. It sits on my side shelf on my bed. So does this little cactus sitting on my side table. These desert plants are quite durable since they don’t need nearly as much water as my other house plants.cactusorange.jpgcactusshelf.jpg

Some coffee table books are this one from Burke’s Outlet. Is is a book about Palmistry, Numerology, etc. I love reading about these things. I have always been fascinated with this. So having this coffee table book is perfect.

Book Haul!

Hello! I hope you are well. Today is all about books. I have been reading so much this summer and I love learning about spirituality and about myself. I have had so many  books on my wishlist but never wanted to go to Barnes and Noble and spend too much. One day I was told about this bargain bookstore in Nashville called McKay’s used/new store. I was finally able to go and was amazed. They had everything from electronics, to records to cassettes to any book you could think of. Once I found the spirituality section, I was there for a while. These are the books I picked up!books (1).jpg

The first is called The Alchemist by Paulo Coehlo. I remember reading this book in Spanish class. My teacher knew I didn’t exactly need to do the work because I knew spanish so he gave me this book to read. I loved the story so when I saw this book at McKay’s, I didn’t even question it. I’m so excited to read this book again.alchem2.jpg

The next is a book that I’ve heard Oprah talk about alot. I believe she once called this book her favorite. I’ve read this author before and I like how eye opening his words are so why not read this and see what this book has to say!neweartbook.jpg

Iyanla Vanzant is a such a powerful speaker and I love her strength and philosophy about life and empowering yourself. I’m super excited to read her written work. If you want to learn about what she has to say, go to YouTube and you’ll love her too.iyanlabook.jpg

This last book is the book that first opened my eyes and mind to spirituality and the idea that you can get what you want and feel good. I read this book so much that it literally fell apart. It turned into quite a used book so spending $2 on a book that is about $25 at Barnes and Noble was a no-brainer. I love this book and while I don’t follow it to the letter, I love the majority of what it has to say. secfret2.jpg

I’m so excited to talk to you about what I thought about them in an upcoming post. What type of books do you tend to read?

Summer Shoes!

Hello hello! July is already here so this month, I am going to start amping  up my post since I start school next month and want to put out as much content as I can before then because school takes over. Today’s post is about my summer shoes and the ones I gravitate towards during these months.
The first are just some slide on mules from Rue 21. I recently saw the original version from Gucci and was so elated that I got mine for just 5 bucks. They might not last as long or have the best quality but when I can save money, you bet I’ll jump at the chance. I am in love with these babies. slideonmules.jpg

I’m way too into black shoes…they just match everything! These, also from Rue21 are such a pretty flat. They have a scalloped detail. The lace up look adds such texture to a basic outfit. They are way more comfy than I I initially thought! laceupshoes.jpg

Let me add a bit of color….they may just be white but it’s a big thing for me! My trusty high top white converse are the best shoe investment I’ve made. I’ve had these for about 3 years and while they aren’t as white, there is no traction fade, fabric rip, etc. These are such a fashionable and easily recognizable shoe that I absolutely adore and can easily be styled.converse2.jpg

And some real color are ones I have talked about before but I can’t stop raving about them. They are the Forever 21 pointed toe mules….in pink! I love love love these shoes. They add such a western feel with the buckle and detailed pattern. I love pairing these lovelies with all black and letting the shoes be the star of the show.f21pinkmules.jpg

Those are my summer shoes! I love having a bit of every style going on. What’s your favorite summer shoe style!?

Summer Highlighters!

Hello! I hope you are well. It is officially summer and it is all about having that glowy skin, but why not turn the volume up on that glow?  I have become obsessed with highlighters because it instanly gives my face such a light and glow. During the summer, I tend to put a bit extra on.  So… let’s get into these highlighters!

The first highlight I want to talk about is the very first one I got myself. It’s called Wisp from Colourpop. I have had this one for about 3 years now and I have just hit pan on this baby. I love that it has a slight bronze color it has the the instant glow it gives. This has a cream consistency and I love the price and color range of Colourpop’s highlighters.wispcphigh.jpg

The next is from Urban Decay and it is called Sin. I received this in my Ipsy bag and it is so incredibly pigmented. It has a neutral color that I believe would match almost every skin tone. urbanhigh4.jpg

Nyx cosmetics always has a place in my blog posts. This highlight called Synthetic is the most beautiful pinky coral color that gives such brightness to my skin. This is the ultimate summer highlight. highnyx.jpg

And the last is from Jeffree Starr Cosmetics called King Tut. It is a bronze color but it is the most pigmented highlight of the others I talked about in this post. Not to mention the size of this highlight. You really get so much for you money and a little bit goes such a long way. tuthigh.jpg

Highlighters are my jam to make my face glow like a disco ball, and these 4 are amazing highlighters to make shine so bright and the price range of these highlighters range from about 5 dollars to about$30. You are sure to love one of these, so go and glow like the sun!

June Ipsy Bag!

Hello all! I hope you are well. June is here and so is my Ipsy glam bag of the month! It arrived Tuesday of this week and I actually wasn’t very happy with the products I received so I wasn’t going to write a post about it but my blog isn’t about everything I like. Sometimes, products don’t work for me but I can always make them work if I want to give it a chance! I am looking on the positive side to see if I can make these products work for me.

The first product is from Nyx.. I love this brand to pieces! However, I received the Whipped Lip and Cheek Souffle. I don’t use blush, but I could potentially use this on my eyes and lips instead.
nyxwhipped.jpg

The next product is from Beauty For Real. It is their I-Line 24/7 Eyeliner in 24 Karat which is a shimmer gold shade. I typically just go for a standard black liner and don’t really have any reason to wear a gold liner. But I could use this to make black winged liner look a bit more unique by outlining it with 24 Karat.beautyrealeye.jpgFullSizeR (1).jpg

Pure Brazilian is a brand that I have received before from Ipsy and it came to good use to me with the leave in conditioner. This month, I recevied their Shine Ultra Light Nourishing Oil. My hair tends to be on the oily side so I wasn’t too excited to receive this but today I used it on the ends of my hair and it made it feel so soft and shiny. purebraz.jpg

The Balm Cosmetics is a brand that I am always happy to get from. Using blush however, is not something that I ever use…because…confession time…. don’t know how to use it. I am trying to make this product work so I will look at some YouTube tutorials to learn the ways of using a blush…or I could use this as an eyeshadow. balmblush.jpg

The last product is from Luna Cosmetics in a pink shade called Jace. This was the product I was most excited to see until I opened the packaging. The shadow has broken and loose shadow was all over. The eyeshadow containter was also broken so I don’t think I’ll be keeping this shadow which I am disappointed about because the color looks so pretty!jaceeye.jpg

To the bag! This was probably my most favorite thing about this Ipsy glam bag. It’s pretty cute and I love the lip and the color block pattern. IMG_8816.jpg

That was my June Ipsy bag! What did you get in your June Ipsy Glam bag?
