Face Masks!

Hello! I hope you are well.  What is your favorite step in your skincare routine? Face masks are something I always love doing. I instantly feel like I am fully relaxing when I have taken all my makeup off, am in the comfiest of clothes and am sitting on my couch watching Chelsea on a Friday night. I tend to use the same two but I love incorporating a few others into my facial mask family. Let’s talk about them!

The first is one I use about 3 times a week. However, one of those time is as a full facial mask. The other times I use them are for spot treatment. Indian Healing Clay Mask is 100% Natural Calcium Bentonite Clay. I talk about this mask way too much but since I’ve now made a post all about masks, I think I can lay it to rest and try not to mention it anymore. This mask is it in powder form that will be activated with either apple cider vinegar or water if you have sensitive skin. This facial mask is the most effective one I have ever used. I feel is get deep into my pores and remove all the dirt and oil that has built up throughout the day. It will bubble a bit but that just means it’s working away! I loved removing the mask and seeing that my face is a bit rosy. That is because it has pumped blood to my face. This will go away after about 5 minutes. What is left is super clean and plump skin.indianmask.jpg

Sleeping masks are such heaven. I know it’s working away at giving me a boost of hydration.  This one from Freeman Beauty is their Beauty Infusion Brightening Overnight Mask with Hibiscus and Vitamin C. This was a bit of an iffy product for me at first. The first time I used this, my skin felt like it was on fire. I stopped using it because I thought my face was too sensitive for it, but I noticed it only felt that way when I exfoliated my skin. So when I use this mask, I skip the exfoliation. It has a lovely floral scent and a gel cream consistency.sleepmask.jpg

Peel-Off masks are such a favorite of mine. This one from Soo Ae is a Purifying Brightening Peeling mask. I love a good peel off mask. It removes dead skin, leaving a smooth, hydrated canvas and peeling it off is oddly satisfying. (Side note: recently used this and it is not a peel off mask. It is just an exfoliating peeling gel. My bad. Still a good product though!)peelingmask.jpg

I have been on the hunt for a bubble mask that I can simply get one use out of it. These packets from Soo Ae are amazing because they come in so many types of masks and are only 2.50 at Walmart. This one if their Charcoal Clay Bubble Mask. Like the description for these say, “it is like giving your face a bubble bath!” I have yet to use them but will get back to you as soon as I do to review this mask.bubblemask.jpg

Face masks are the highlight of my skincare time. It’s always fun for me to have a green face and have my boyfriend look at me like I am the Lockeness Monster and for my pups to sniff my face and wonder what happened to their mom. I love that my face is being taken care of while I make food, paint my nails or while I watch Netflix! I can’t get enough face masks. I have yet to try any paper masks, so if you have any recommendations, let me know!

Tips for controlling breakouts!

Hello! I hope you are well. Today I am talking about what I do when I see or feel a nasty breakout begin to bubble up. I’ve gotten a few products together to form a team that will always stop my planet zit in its tracks!

The first thing I go for when I feel a breakout begin is to put makeup on that area at the very end of my makeup routine. This helps me to not spread that bacteria from the effected area out anywhere else on my face.

Next, I will wash my face using Garnier’s SkinActive Clean+Pore Purifying 2-in-1 Clay Cleanser….what a name. This product smells manly and clean and I am all about that. This is for oily skin so if you have more of a normal skin,  try using the Invigorating Daily Scrub for Normal skin. Back to the Clay Cleanser. This removes all the dirt and oil from my face and leaves it feeling soft and polished.claybreak.jpg

To wash my face, I love using my Vanity Planet spin for perfect skin facial brush. I talk about this thing way to much. When I don’t use this, I can tell my face isn’t as clean. This brush makes me feel so confident that any bacteria from the affected area will be treated and clean. vpbreakbrush.jpg

The next thing I do is something I swear by. I’ve made a post about this product before and it is the Indian Healing Clay Mask. This product is in powder form. You add equal parts of apple cider vinegar (or water if you have sensitive skin) and of the Clay powder. I love using this mask about once a week to give my face a super deep clean. For days when I have a breakout the size of Jupiter forming, I take a q-tip, dip it in apple cider vinegar and then into the powder and dot it on any problem areas. I cannot tell you how many times I have woken up and it has vanished that soon to be zit. Go back a bit to read more about this facial product. clayvine.jpg

Another easy thing you can do is make sure your pillow cases are nice and clean. I always put my hair in a pony tail to keep the oils from getting into my pillow. Another thing is I try and sleep on my back to prevent myself from getting unecessary oils into my pores, thus causing breakouts.

Washing your makeup brushes on the regular is pretty obvious but why not include it. It is important thing to keep those breakouts at bay. After you get rid of that breakout, make sure to wash your brushes to make sure you don’t cause another one from forming.

And of course, do not sleep with your makeup on. You need your skin to get a good nights rest too! And drink lots of water to keep your skin hydrated!
What do you do to control those breakouts?

Morning Routine!

Hello! I hope all is well with you. I recently wrote a post about my night time skin care routine so I thought I would do a morning skincare routine!

The first thing I do in the morning is splash my face with water because it feels so amazing to rinse my skin first thing in the morning.  Then, I like using my Garnier Micellar water to take off any dirt and oil that built up last night. Next I take my 98% Aloe Vera gel and apply it all over my face. I love how refreshing this makes my skin feel. It absorbs quickly and I love the smell of aloe vera. aloevfeat.jpg

Then I wil go to my Dermasil Retinol Oil free day cream and apply that. It is quite a thick moisturizer but it leaves my skin very hydrated and feeling plump.dermasilret.jpg

Once the moisturizer is absorbed I will take my Simple Skincare Protecting Light SPF 15 Moisturizer. I’ve finally been able to stay consistent with a facial sunscreen. It has the slightest scent of sunscreen and after using it for about half a year, I have never noticed a white cast that sunscreens tend to leave. I am loving this stuff!spfmorn.jpg

Now, I have to wake up my undereyes! I recently purchased H20’s Instant Hydrating Stick. It instantly feels so cool and icy which I absoutely love! I pat that in with my ring  finger and I am set!eyeh20.jpg

After all of this, I am ready for a day of makeup or a day hanging around the apartment watching Youtube videos, Netflix, and taking my pups to the park.

May Favorites!

Hello! May has come to a close, but I have been left with sooo many favorites from the month. From books to fashion…so here we go!

TV Shows

Hasan Minhaj: Homecoming King – This standup was such a breath of fresh air for a comedy act.  Hasan is a comedy genius that made me laugh out loud one second and made me tear up the next. I went on a rollercoaster ride along with him and the things he lived through. From talks about family, racism, prom to being hired to be on The Daily Show Hasan Minhaj is a fireball of talent and sincerity. Favorite comedian status?…..Uhm yes.

Better Call Saul – Yeah, yeah, I know what you’re thinking. There’s like 3 seasons and you are just getting into the show? Yes and I have been missing out. Better Call Saul is taken from the life of Walt White’s interesting Lawyer, Saul Goodman. It goes through “Saul’s” life of becoming an establised lawyer and the obstacles he has to go through. Season 2 ended on a cliff hanger and I cannot wait until Season 3 hits Netflix.

Master Of None: Season 2 – I loved the first season and thought it couldn’t get any better this time around for season 2, but I was so so wrong. Season 2 of MON connected to me in such deep way. The cinemetography was a work of art as it was focused on people and the way they live, love, work, and become happy with their truest self. This show is so much more than trying to date in New York while trying to land an acting job. Aziz Ansari and Alan Yang are the creators and writers of this masterpiece and do such a good job at making this show so deep that makes you truly feel something. Aziz Ansari directed several episodes and does such a beautiful job at it.

Into the Wild – I have read this book before, but it’s just such a good book that while sad, has such a deep message. Happiness is only real when shared. We all as humans, want to share happiness, because then, we know it is real and we know that it’s not just a dream. Getting that new job, graduating highschool/college, overcoming that obstacle you’ve been fighting to defeat. Sharing that feeling of happiness and spreading it all over, creates happiness that in turn, multiplies.

#Girlboss – Another book that I’ve read but I have to talk about. This book is going to get yourself off of that couch and go after what you want. After this school semester, I struggled to get back to blogging, but after reading this book again, that fire and motivation to get back to writing posts, taking photos, editing and posting was came alive again. I love taking photos, I love writing and I love creating. This book was the firewood that reignited that flame in me again.

What I know For Sure : Oprah Winfrey – I remember coming home from school and going into my sister’s room. We’d always watch Oprah together as I’d do my homework. Since then, Oprah has been a huge source of inspiration for me. I came across this book and I became that much more inspired to be postive, work hard and keep going no matter what gets in my way. This book is one that will make you look at your life and see that you are not your past. You can do better if you don’t look at the negatives. You can do better if you love, live and work hard at life. Go Oprah.

NYX Cosmetic Duo Chromatic Illuminating Powder – This highlight called Synthetica is described on the site as being a pink based highlight with gold. It is such a rose gold goddess color that screams summer. I love that hue it leaves on the tip of my nose or the high points of my cheeks. The formula is super pigmented and while it is a pink based highlight, it doesn’t look pink or orange on my cheekbones. It just looks glowy. DSC_1508FullSizeR (1)Urban Decay Afterglow Highlight in Sin- This 8 hour powder highlight makes me look like such a disco ball and I am all about it. A simple tap of this product will give such a strong highlight. It is the longest lasting highlight I have had in a long minute.

FullSizeR (2).jpgFullSizeR (3).jpgDeciem Hyaluronic Acid – I made a post about this product a few weeks back so I l, of course am going to add it to my monthly favorites. This product absorbs so quickly and leaves my skin feeling plump and smooth. To read more about my thoughts on this product go back in my page and read all about it!

Garnier Micellear Water- I now understand the hype with these micellear water products. I get it, I get it. This does not leave the slightest residue of product that coconut oil, or makeup wipes leave on my skin. I have tried them all and I cannot stand that residual gunk. This on the otherhand, leaves my face feeling soft, makeup free without the over rubbing, etc, and pretty clean. The love is real for this stuff.

Forever 21 Faux Suede Buckled Mules in Rose- While this item may be my only fashion favorite of the month, it is a step outside of my comfort zone. I got these shoes for my birthday which was April 30th, but I have been wearing these shoes nonstop since then in May. I am someone that does not wear color and much less pink. However, when I laid my eyes on these babies, I had to have them. They elevate an outfit and make a casual t-shirt and jeans look so feminine put together and classy. My love for these shoes makes me step out of my neutral color wardrobe and add a pop of color.

Night-time skincare routine!

Hello! When I began a skincare routine, I would have way more than I should have and would layer product after product. Recently, I cut down immensely to just the essentials that I knew worked for me. I went from applying layer after layer of products and I never truly saw a difference. Depending on if I needed to treat a spot or two, now the products would go to are aroud 4-5. My night time skincare routine is that is all about hydration so lets talk!

I have fallen into the Micellar Water craze to take my makeup off. I’ve been so resistant against using it for the longest time, but I don’t like how my face feels after using coconut oil or makeup wipes to do the job because my face will be left feeling oily or soaking. So I thought, why not try something new that could potentially make my face feel good after taking my makeup off. This micellar water from Garnier makes my face feel so soft and it takes half the time it usually takes to remove my makeup.

Once I remove my makeup, I cleanse my face to make sure that I get any residual makeup off. Depending on how my face it looking (breakout, rough skin, etc.) I will use my H20 Cleanser or my Garnier Pore Purifying Cleanser. I use my Vanity Planet Brush to clean my face and will switch the exfoliator and cleanse brush head out every other day.

My face is now feeling free of makeup, dirt and is squeaky clean. Now it’s time to reintroduce my skin to some moisture. I go to my Dermasil oil-free facial moisturizer. This is a rich and thick moisturizer that leaves my face so quenced with hydration.

After I have let Dermasil do it’s magic and absorb, I go for Deciem’s Hyaluronic Acid, drop about 2-3 drops into my palm and press it into my skin, focusing on any dry patches. Deciem has become a new skin care love of mine and I am in love with this product.

Once my skin is nice and moisturized, If there are any spots or oncoming spots, I will either go to my Garnier Clay Pore Cleanser or my Indian Healing Clay mask and apply a dot onto any problem areas. And that’s that! I am really wanting to incorportate an eye cream so if you have any reccommendation, let a girl know!

5 Ways to use: Mario Badescu Facial Spray

Hello hello! Summer break is here for many of us and its that time for travel, outdoors and that summer heat. Now many people skip that full face makeup during these times and I wish I were one of them, but I personally feel more comfortable wearing makeup when I go out. However, when I am out walking my pups, I come back inside and I am in desperate need of feeling instantly refreshed. Mario Badescu comes through for me no matter what the weather. I use the Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater everyday of the year and here are ways you can use it:

1. Skincare- Using this as a part of your morning/night routine will give you a light yet beautiful feeling on your skin.

2. Makeup Mist- Who has used a bit too much setting powder and can’t figure out how to not look like a powder puff? Spray a few pumps of this and you will instantly feel dewy and glowy. Good bye powder puff face. I swear by this method.

3. Makeup Blending- Dot your foundation on and mist this all over your face. It will evenly and seamlessly blend into your skin like butter.

4. Setting Spray- Of course, using this as a setting spray is amazing but take your blender and pat everything just to make sure that lovely contour and hightlight are nice and contoured. My favorite step!

5. Hydration- I always have this bottle in my bag because I never know when I am going to need that boost of moisture. I cannot tell you how many times I have used this spray in between classes when I feel like my face has lost all of its moisture.

Mario Badescu’s Facial Spray is just that one product that I can always count on to give me that moisture and make my makeup look seamless. I have lost count on how many of these bottles I have gotten. I love love love this spray.

Review-Deciem Hyaluronic Acid

Hello hello again! I’m so happy to resume my blog. I have so much more free time to dedicate to my page. Skincare is vital to having the best canvas possible to apply makeup. And today is all about Deciem and their Hyaluronic Acid. But first, a quick backstory:

Skincare has become more important to me than makeup recently, and with good reason. I’ve come to find out that without good skin, it doesn’t matter whether you buy highend makeup, it won’t look as flawless as it could.

One day as I was taking a stroll in Marshall’s I came across a hyaluronic acid from Measurable Difference. I used it twice a day until one day I realized that my skin looked plump and smooth. Before I knew it, I ran out of this liquid magic. So I researched and came upon Deciem and their super affordable and amazing skincare products. I scanned their site and found their vegan hyaluronic acid for a whopping $6.50!

The consistency of this product is thick but it feels so light and it blends so well into my skin. I love love love this stuff and will be stocking asap! Hyaluronic Acid is my holy grail skincare product and I am so glad it doesn’t break the bank.

Much love

Review: Indian Healing Clay Mask

Hello hello! Midterm exams are done and I am on spring break. This semester of studying, working and trying to find the time to pamper myself has been a trying time. I love using facial masks because I love looking like a little monster and having my face cleansed and deep cleaned. One day, I saw Mindy Kaling (Kelly of The Office and Mindy from The Mindy Project) talk about the Indian Healing Clay Mask. I look at reviews and videos of people trying it and I decide to get it myself to try it out.

This clay is in powder form and is made with 100% natural calcium bentonite clay. Free of any necessary ingredients, this mask is made my adding equal parts of either water or apple cider vinegar.  Use nonmetal bowl/utensils. Using metal to mix this will cause the bentonite clay to activate. You want it to activate on your face/etc! At first, I used this mask and mixed it with water for about a year. My face never seemed to reap any benefits from doing this. I tried mixing it with apple cider vinegar for the first time just a few days a ago and I noticed my face was pulsating, and bubbles started forming.

After leaving it on for about 20 min. I washed it off and my face was rosy and looked plump and clean.  I felt like this mask was actually doing its magic. The next day, so many people where saying how clean and smooth my face looked and after one use of using this mixture! If your face is more on the sensitive side, use the water mixture. If you want to try it out with apple cider vinegar, test a small area of you skin first.

This mask can be used for you body, hair, feet etc. and it is super cheap. I got my 1 pound mask for about 8 bucks. This masks may be a bit more work and may be a bit messy, but I have the peace of mind that I know what is going on my skin because I mixed it myself and it is as natural as it gets.

Winter Skincare 2017

Hello hello!

Winter is here and while it’s not as cold as winter should be in TN this year (global warming), my skin has gotten adjusted to this time of the year so in some areas around my face, it is dry flaky.

Dry skin makes it near to impossible for my makeup to look good. I have gotten super into skincare this past year and have been looking for some more natural alternatives.

So, I have gathered up a few of these products and have had successful results. One of these items I recently added but it really impressed me so it made my list of favorites.

These are my winter skincare favorites!

The first is simply an aloe gel. I have been using this product all throughout the year every single day and I’m not even halfway through it. Aloe gel has become a staple in my morning and night skincare. It smells amazing, feels cooling, absorbs quickly and leaves my skin feeling fresh. Aloe in general has so many amazing health benefits and is a natural way to treat your skin and body.

The next item I found impressed me to no end. Dermasil Nighttime Oil Free Facial Moisturizer has given my skin such moisture and smoothness that I could not believe it is sold in Dollar Tree of all places. One night, I had super dry skin around my nose and I saw this product in a drawer and thought I would try it. It is a super thick moisturizer, but it absorbed so quickly and it left that dry area around my nose full of moisture. I love this stuff!

Facial brushes have been a big deal for quite sometime now and I recently made a post about one in particular. Vanity Planet’s Spin for Perfect Skin brush has made such a difference in the way my skin look and feels. I know that all of that left over makeup is coming right off when I use this brush. It comes with 4 different attachments for your face and body. I use the exfoilant head about twice and week and the daily head every night. I LOVE IT.

And the last product is simply almond oil. This is the last step in my nightly skincare routine and I instantly notice my skin get plumper and glowy. Almond oil has treated my acne scars while also adding moisture so I couldn’t love this product any more.

After using these products, my face is ready for sleep and by taking out one or two products and adding an SPF moisturizer and primer, my face is ready for makeup!

January Ipsy Glam Bag

Hello hello!

Winter has begun and that means layers of warm cozy clothes, all the blankets and hot chocolate and January’s Ipsy glam bag!  This month’s glam bag includes a concealer and a primer among other things so lets get to it!

The first product is from It Cosmetics and it’s their Bye Bye Under Eye Illumination Anti-Aging Concealer. This concealer is nice and thick and for me, I love myself a good thick concealer. This is a waterproof and full coverage concealer and I am loving it so far! It is filled with Hydrolyzed Collagen, Peptides, Hyaluronic Acid and Antioxidants. Did I mention it is also paraben and crueltly free?!

The second item is from Star Crushed Minerals and it’s their Metallic Eye shadow in Aged to Perfection Champagne. This is a loose shadow pigment and while I don’t tend to use metallic eye shadows, I can definitely see myself trying this product out as a highlight.

I also received a brush from Crown Brush and it’s their C405 Contour Blush Brush. This is another product that I will be using to my own liking. I don’t wear blush, but who says you can’t use it as any other brush?! Oh the possibilities!

I love trying out new primers and this one has impressed me and I have only been using it for two days. Temptu Base Smooth and Matte Primer is oil-free, hypoallergenic and controls my oils that I tend to get on my t-zone area. This is definitely my  favorite product in my January glam bag.

The last product is from ClariSea and it’s their Instant Glow Lavender Powder Exfoliant. I used this for the first time last night and I was amazed at how my face looked. At first, I was confused as to how to use it since it is a powder exfoliant. It’s something I’ve never used but all you do is add equal parts of the powder and equal amounts of whatever facial cleanser you use. This stuff smells amazing and it made my skin look and feel fresh and glowy. (I’m thinking about buying the full sized version of this product ;))

And those are all the things I received in my January Glam Bag from Ipsy. If you have any of these products, let me know how you like them!
