October Favorites!

Categories

Hey and welcome back! I hate to have been away for so long but school has been taking up most of my attention. I have a bit more time today to write, take photos and post this so let’s talk about my monthly favorites!

This month was full of more music than beauty, skincare, etc. so start let’s start with the shows I was able to go see a few artists and even my boyfriend play his first show with his new band…

The first show I was able to go to was Lights. I have been listening to her since I started highschool and never actually thought I would see her, but she was so amazing live. Her voice is so beautiful. Her music is more electro/indie.IMG_0610 (1)

Next was my boyfriend’s local band called True Bliss. They have The Killers feel and they even did a cover of one of their songs which was so cool. If you are a fan of White Lies, Turnover or The Cure, you’d probably like them! I am so excited for them to release music for everyone to listen.

TV:
Stranger Things Season 2: I have one episode left to finish this season, but I am absolutely in love with this show and it’s characters. Without giving out any spoilers, this season is more comedic, we see more of each individual character and it’s just so so good.

Last was Turnover. Their album Good Nature is so beautiful and melodic and I absolutely loved seeing them in a smaller setting.472EE1CA- (1).jpg

While I didn’t get to see this band when they came to Nashville, I have been listening to Alvvays this month since my boyfriend showed them to me and they have quickly become one of my favorite bands. This band has an 80’s feel and the front woman of this band has such an amazing voice.

It Cosmetic’s Powder: This powder was in my monthly Ipsy bag and I have really been liking how it gives my face a matte and pore less canvas. definitely think I will be buying the full sized version of this product.byebyepore (1).jpg

Bath and Body Works Candle- This chestnut and clove candle smells so good and kinda smells like chai tea. I love getting candles during the fall because they give my home such coziness. bbwoct (1).jpg

Catrice Cosmetics Smoothing Primer- I keep seeing this brand at Ulta and I wanted to try  more from them so I picked up this primer. It does an awesome job at blurring out my pores. I have noticed a difference since using it and I can’t wait to try out more from Catrice. catrriceprimer.jpg

Review: Milani 2 in 1 Foundation & Concealer!

Categories

Hey and welcome back! I hope you are well! Lately, I’ve really been on top of the types of makeup brands I buy from that are cruelty free. Milani is a brand I don’t use too often but when it came time to buy a new foundation, I wanted to try a cruelty free brand. I have been using the FitMe foundation from Maybelline for several months and while it is an amazing foundation, I cannot keep using it knowing that animals were tested on for this product to be sold.

That being said I picked up Milani’s 2 in 1 foundation and wanted to talk about how well it works for my normal/oily skin. When I was reading reviews about this they were mostly positive so I was even more excited to give this a try.

I chose the shade Warm Beige 05. I am not very good at picking the right shade for my skintone, but this one, as read in the review, seems to oxidize, so I picked a lighter shade and it fits my skin so well. This foundation/concealer claims the following: Medium to full coverage, lightweight, oil-free formula, longwearing, water resistant and sweatproof.

Claims that this is a medium to full coverage product it pretty spot on. I find that I can build it up to be full coverage if I have areas that need a bit more product.foundationclaim.jpg

At first, I did not agree that this foundation was lightweight, but after a few uses, I noticed that once it settled onto my skin, it felt super lightweight. The oil-free formula still tends to cause my natural oils to come through around my t-zone area especially around my nose and chin. I don’t tend to use powder all over my face with any other foundation, because I hate making my skin look too matte, but if I don’t set my face with powder using this foundation, I will look shiny.foundationfeat (1).jpg

This foundation/concealer seems quite long wearing. I go to class from 8:00- 1:45 then to work 3:30-9:00 so I need something that can last quite a while and never feel like I have to touch up my foundation. It stays put through sweat and possible tears.

The smell of this is a bit fragrant, but once set into the skin, the scent goes away for me. I don’t tend to be picky about scents of products, but I know there are some that are.

Overall, I love this product. It has the stay power and a super nice coverage. The color range seems a bit small in stores, but on their site, they carry many more. I am so happy to have found a cruelty-free foundation that works and is affordable!IMG_0285 (1)

Review: Kat Von D Shade & Light Contour Palette

Categories

Hey and welcome back! I hope you’re well. Years ago when Kat Von D’s makeup line was released, I had to try her products! The first product I picked up was her contour palette and it upgraded my makeup collection immensely. I found myself using this palette so much and I just picked up my second contour palette after finally getting through my first palette. So let’s talk about it!

First, Kat Von D is vegan and has made her products free from animal testing, parabens, etc which is always a huge plus for me and many others. contourpalette (1).jpg

The palette comes with 6 shades. 3 light and 3 contour shades. katbackpall (1).jpg

The light colors can be used as a highlight, a base for shadow, and/or brightener. The shades of the light side are from left to right: Levitation (light pink), Lyric(yellow tint) and Lucid (peachy tint)katlight (1).jpgI really love using Lyric the most. It has a yellow tint that really gives my olive beige skin tone a nice  bright look  without any color.

The shades for the contour side range from Subconscious (muted grayish brown), Shadowplay ( reddish brown)  and Sombre ( dark brown)

I have found myself using  Subconscious the most because it just gives the illusion if shadow without the reddish or dark tone. I contour my face, nose and sometimes my jawline to really define my face. It has no reddish tone that I typically tend to get from brown shadows. This one is perfect for my skin tone. shadekatvond (1).jpg

The mirror in this palette is the perfect size. And I just love palette with a handy mirror in it in case I don’t have one around anywhere else. katvondcontourpalette (1)

The palette design itself is beautiful. It has such a whimsical gothic feel to it and it stunning to have around.

While the price for this palette isn’t the cheapest, I can say with utmost certainty that it is worth the money. This palette will last you such a long time and you can customize your own shade.

Review: Wet N’ Wild Megaliner

Categories

Hey and welcome back! I hope you are well. I have been using this product for a few months now and mentioned it in my August favorites. Eyeliner is such a staple in my makeup bag. Wet N’ Wild is such an affordable brand yet their products have barely ever disappointed me.

Yes this liner has been out for quite some time, but I have yet to use it until now! I love how dark it is and how quickly it dries. The brush is like a rubber tip which isn’t super thin and makes it a bit difficult to apply how I’d like but If i give myself enough time to work with it, the brush isn’t so bad.  The handle to the brush itself does make up for it as it tapers to have a better grip.wetliner222.jpg

I got the non waterproof version to this liner because I love the simplicity of taking this off at the end of the day without feeling like I rubbed my eye off. However, there is also a waterproof version for those who prefer it. I believe it was under $5 which is amazing. I’ve had mine for about a month and a half and have not even gotten close to reaching the bottom of this liner! Did I also mention that this product is vegan? linerww

September Ipsy bag!

Categories

Hey welcome back! I hope you are well! My September Ipsy bag has arrived so let’s talk about it!

The first product is from Smashbox Cosmetics. This Photo Finish Radiance Foundation Primer seems quite interesting It looks as if it has some slight glimmery color with tiny title bits of glitter in it.smahboxprime.jpg

The next is from Hanalei and it’s their Papaya Enzyme Powder Cleanser. This is a water activated cleanser and while I have used a powder cleanser before, this one seems so nice and freshing for my skin! It comes with 5 single use packets which I love. It keeps this hygenic and I can’t wait to use this!hanapowder.jpg

This eyeshadow from Elizabeth Mott, Pop Goes the Shadow in Toasted is quite pretty. It is a muted almost sheer light brownish color. While I don’t like shimmery shadows, this one seems just right for me.pop.jpgpopshadow.jpg

Another brush to add to my collection! This one from Luxie is their 207 Medium Angled Shading Brush. I can never hate receiving new brushed so I’m happy to start incorporating this one into my routine!DSC_3251.jpgluxbrush.jpg

The last product is actually two from the brand Manefit. These Mugwort Astringent + Pore Care and Lily Whitening + Brightening Sheet Masks seem like the perfect mask after a long day of classes and work. If you have read my blog about face masks, you’ll know I am all about a good face mask!DSC_3258.jpg

To the bag:

This bag has to be at the top of my Ipsy glam bags. It is a faux leather bag with a studded detail all over. I am loving it!bag.png

August Favorites!

Categories

Hello! I hope you are well. Let September begin and let those monthly favorites start pouring out into the online world!

Let’s start with the non-beauty items.

This Is Us- I have been hearing so much about this show and how good it is. I waited way too long to start this series but as soon as I did, I finished it in a week. This show is like nothing I have ever seen before. It captured my attention in the first episode and I found myself crying at at least half of the series (18 Episodes, I believe) because It was so heartfelt. If you have seen this show, you know what I mean. If you haven’t seen this show, go watch!

Tattoo- I finally have my three flowers on my arm. I went to Safehouse Tattoo in Nashville,TN with Zane Pendegrast. As soon as I walked in, I felt super comfortable because there were absolutely no egos where you feel out of your element. Everyone was super nice/accomodating and Zane was funny, laid back and nice. I love black and grey tattoos and have been seeing his work for a while so I had to have him give me my next piece. I went with a rannunculus because of the depth and the fluffy shape of the flower. 2 hours later, my arm raw and sore, I look at it and am in awe at how perfect it is. I am super happy with it and cannot wait for it to fully heal.

Let’s get to the beauty/skin/body products!

Wet N’ Wild Liner- It takes me a while to get the hang of a new liner, but this one is super easy to use, dries quickly and is super dark. I wish it had more product, but for the price it is amazing. I have had no issues with smudging or fading so this is definitely a liner I will be repurchasing. wtliner (1).jpg

Victoria Secret body spray in Aqua Kiss- I got this as a gift but never used it until this month. Notes: Black Currant and Peony. This is such light, clean and crisp scent that I pretty much bathe in it before I’m out the door. vs spray.jpg

I was gifted the most amazing mascara. My sister gave me this mini macara from Doucce called Maxlash Volumizer Mascara. The brush itself is so full and thick which makes for super full lashes. I focus my mascara more on my lower lashes as I wear falsies most of the time. douccemas (1).jpg

I have been using Jason brand deodorant for a few year now, but when I came across this aloe scented one, I had to have it. It smells so fresh and if I don’t have a body spray around, this deodorant doubles as that. If you like the scent of aloe, give this a try!jasonndeo (1).jpg

August Ipsy Glam Bag!

Categories

Hello! I hope you are well. A new month means a new glam bag form Ipsy! I also wanted to start including whether or not products in my ipsy bag are vegan and/or cruelty free.I have been really starting to notice that there are many brands that don’t test on animals and I want to support those brands. So let’s jump into it!

The first thing I received is a liner from Serephine Bontanicals. This liquid coal waterproof liner has a rubberflex tip to acheive a perfect cat eye and it is vegan/celiac friendly! I cannot wait to try it out. linerswatch.jpglinerseraphiine.jpg

I love getting new brushed from Ipsy. This one from SLMissGlam is their T35 Precise Blending Brush. The first thing that caught my eye about this brush was the color. My brushes tend to favor the dark side, but this one is super bright and will definitely stand out among my other brushes. Also it is cruelty-free!brushmint.jpgbrushipsy.jpg

I personally love clear brow gel. It helps me put my brow hairs in place and get them ready for some filling in. I just don’t work well with a tinted brow gel. This one from Chella is their Eyebrow Defining Gel. I tried researching to see if this brand is cruelty free, but I have not found a definte answer.chellagel.jpgchellabrow.jpg

This Skin Rescue Deep Cleanser with Red Clay from First Aid Beauty is something I am particularly excited to try this month. I love a good cleanser and am always looking forward to what it does to my skin. As read on the brand’s site: Do you test on animals? At First Aid Beauty, we love animals. That’s why we are committed to being a 100% cruelty free company. We have not, do not and will not conduct any testing of ingredients or finished products on animals. Furthermore, we only work with business partners who certify compliance with our policy.cleanserirstaid

The last product I recevied is from TheBalm. I have not been too excited to try any of the products I have received from this brand, so I will be removing this brand from my makeup preferences. TheBalm is not certified but they claim they do not test on animals. They aren’t vegan however, as some of their products do contain animal by-products.balmwillkommen.jpgbalmpack.jpg
