New in- Home

Hello. I hope you are well. I have been gathering a few things and I wanted to talk to you about them all.  This is new in, home decor, coffee accessories, plants, etc. So let’s get into it.

I love having coffee or a latte from Dunkin Donuts because it is perfect and frothy. However, at home, my coffee never seems to taste how it does at a coffee place. Until I saw that milk frothers existed. I jumped at the chance to get myself one and am LOVING it. It is so easy to use and easy to clean. You can use it for cold and hot drinks. It is the Matcha DNA Milk Frother from Amazon. My coffee now taste like it’s from a cafe, everyday single morning. milkfrotherlove.jpgIMG_9359.jpg

Next is my little buddha from Ross. I have been becoming more aware of  living more mindful and I wanted to bring some decor in to help remind me to stay that way. I love having this little Buddha man on my table because I feel a bit more at peace when I see him.buddha.jpg

Some little plants I’ve gotten recently are this little cactus. It has grown alot since I got it but I love the small size of this plant. It sits on my side shelf on my bed. So does this little cactus sitting on my side table. These desert plants are quite durable since they don’t need nearly as much water as my other house plants.cactusorange.jpgcactusshelf.jpg

Some coffee table books are this one from Burke’s Outlet. Is is a book about Palmistry, Numerology, etc. I love reading about these things. I have always been fascinated with this. So having this coffee table book is perfect.

Gratitude Journaling

Hello hello! I hope you are well! Gratitude is something I have been more aware of lately. My mother has been telling me for years to say thank you for waking up to the day. I don’t remember when I started saying thank you every morning but my energy has shifted since I began saying these two words in the morning

I started watching and listening to Oprah and she mentioned having a gratitude journal. Every night, she writes down at least 5 things she is grateful that day. This idea struck me so deeply so I went out and got a little journal and began. I started with writing 5 things a night, but it grew to fill the whole page of the little things in my day that have made me stop and appreciate it. I have been writing in my gratitude journal for about 3 weeks and I find myself looking for things to be write in my journal.gratjpurnal2.jpg

I love the concept of this process. My days have become more seperate and I see that I am grateful for the little things in life. After I write down the things I am grateful for. I close my eyes and go through each one all over again and when I open my eyes, I am filled with such appreciation.

Want to start your own gratitude journal? Go get yourself a journal and start tonight! You’ll soon see that you will begin looking for things to make your journal entry.journal.jpg

Tips for controlling breakouts!

Hello! I hope you are well. Today I am talking about what I do when I see or feel a nasty breakout begin to bubble up. I’ve gotten a few products together to form a team that will always stop my planet zit in its tracks!

The first thing I go for when I feel a breakout begin is to put makeup on that area at the very end of my makeup routine. This helps me to not spread that bacteria from the effected area out anywhere else on my face.

Next, I will wash my face using Garnier’s SkinActive Clean+Pore Purifying 2-in-1 Clay Cleanser….what a name. This product smells manly and clean and I am all about that. This is for oily skin so if you have more of a normal skin,  try using the Invigorating Daily Scrub for Normal skin. Back to the Clay Cleanser. This removes all the dirt and oil from my face and leaves it feeling soft and polished.claybreak.jpg

To wash my face, I love using my Vanity Planet spin for perfect skin facial brush. I talk about this thing way to much. When I don’t use this, I can tell my face isn’t as clean. This brush makes me feel so confident that any bacteria from the affected area will be treated and clean. vpbreakbrush.jpg

The next thing I do is something I swear by. I’ve made a post about this product before and it is the Indian Healing Clay Mask. This product is in powder form. You add equal parts of apple cider vinegar (or water if you have sensitive skin) and of the Clay powder. I love using this mask about once a week to give my face a super deep clean. For days when I have a breakout the size of Jupiter forming, I take a q-tip, dip it in apple cider vinegar and then into the powder and dot it on any problem areas. I cannot tell you how many times I have woken up and it has vanished that soon to be zit. Go back a bit to read more about this facial product. clayvine.jpg

Another easy thing you can do is make sure your pillow cases are nice and clean. I always put my hair in a pony tail to keep the oils from getting into my pillow. Another thing is I try and sleep on my back to prevent myself from getting unecessary oils into my pores, thus causing breakouts.

Washing your makeup brushes on the regular is pretty obvious but why not include it. It is important thing to keep those breakouts at bay. After you get rid of that breakout, make sure to wash your brushes to make sure you don’t cause another one from forming.

And of course, do not sleep with your makeup on. You need your skin to get a good nights rest too! And drink lots of water to keep your skin hydrated!
What do you do to control those breakouts?

Summer Highlighters!

Hello! I hope you are well. It is officially summer and it is all about having that glowy skin, but why not turn the volume up on that glow?  I have become obsessed with highlighters because it instanly gives my face such a light and glow. During the summer, I tend to put a bit extra on.  So… let’s get into these highlighters!

The first highlight I want to talk about is the very first one I got myself. It’s called Wisp from Colourpop. I have had this one for about 3 years now and I have just hit pan on this baby. I love that it has a slight bronze color it has the the instant glow it gives. This has a cream consistency and I love the price and color range of Colourpop’s highlighters.wispcphigh.jpg

The next is from Urban Decay and it is called Sin. I received this in my Ipsy bag and it is so incredibly pigmented. It has a neutral color that I believe would match almost every skin tone. urbanhigh4.jpg

Nyx cosmetics always has a place in my blog posts. This highlight called Synthetic is the most beautiful pinky coral color that gives such brightness to my skin. This is the ultimate summer highlight. highnyx.jpg

And the last is from Jeffree Starr Cosmetics called King Tut. It is a bronze color but it is the most pigmented highlight of the others I talked about in this post. Not to mention the size of this highlight. You really get so much for you money and a little bit goes such a long way. tuthigh.jpg

Highlighters are my jam to make my face glow like a disco ball, and these 4 are amazing highlighters to make shine so bright and the price range of these highlighters range from about 5 dollars to about$30. You are sure to love one of these, so go and glow like the sun!

Book Review: The Universe Has Your Back – Gabrielle Bernstein

Hello hello! I hope all is well with you. I have recently read a book that has shifted my mind. I love books that help me become more motivated and determined to do something to better my life.

The Universe Has Your Back by Gabrielle Bernstein is a book that I have seen floating around all over the internet. I have been on an Audible kick and I have been looking for new books to experience. I had recently listened to Oprah’s What I Know For Sure and was so completely inspired and motivated to live my truest self possible. Once I finished the book, I was really wanting to continue that momentum I had built up. The Universe Has Your Back seems like a religious book, but it is about having faith in yourself and the thought that the universe, indeed, does have your back. I loved the idea of this concept.

As soon as I began listening to this book, I could not listen to anything else. On my way to work, instead of listening to my Spotify playlist, I just wanted to soak in the words from this book. Once I finished it I took so many things away from that help me keep a positive and happy spirit alive. This book does include some meditation exercises and some words to say as you go about your day.

“I witness I am out of alignment with my power, I choose to see peace instead of this.” These words have helped me shift back to a positive place, if I am feeling like down or if my day hasn’t been good. I just say these words and feel relaxed and centered. Another phrase is ” I step back and let the universe lead the way.” This phrase reminds me to work as hard as I can and live a positive life, after that I just need to surrender the rest to the universe. This makes the work that I do with this blog so much more fun. I do post regularly twice a week and I never feel obligated to have content. I just have fun with it and every week that comes, I have new ideas to create. I’m never without ideas because I trust that I will have them.

The Universe Has Your Back by Gabrielle Bernstein is a book that reinforces my drive to keep the faith and motivation with whatever I do. I love the words of this book and have shared them with friends and family. My sister even told me this is exactly what she needed. I wanted to share some words with you because we all deserve to live a life that is filled with positivity.

June Ipsy Bag!

Hello all! I hope you are well. June is here and so is my Ipsy glam bag of the month! It arrived Tuesday of this week and I actually wasn’t very happy with the products I received so I wasn’t going to write a post about it but my blog isn’t about everything I like. Sometimes, products don’t work for me but I can always make them work if I want to give it a chance! I am looking on the positive side to see if I can make these products work for me.

The first product is from Nyx.. I love this brand to pieces! However, I received the Whipped Lip and Cheek Souffle. I don’t use blush, but I could potentially use this on my eyes and lips instead.
nyxwhipped.jpg

The next product is from Beauty For Real. It is their I-Line 24/7 Eyeliner in 24 Karat which is a shimmer gold shade. I typically just go for a standard black liner and don’t really have any reason to wear a gold liner. But I could use this to make black winged liner look a bit more unique by outlining it with 24 Karat.beautyrealeye.jpgFullSizeR (1).jpg

Pure Brazilian is a brand that I have received before from Ipsy and it came to good use to me with the leave in conditioner. This month, I recevied their Shine Ultra Light Nourishing Oil. My hair tends to be on the oily side so I wasn’t too excited to receive this but today I used it on the ends of my hair and it made it feel so soft and shiny. purebraz.jpg

The Balm Cosmetics is a brand that I am always happy to get from. Using blush however, is not something that I ever use…because…confession time…. don’t know how to use it. I am trying to make this product work so I will look at some YouTube tutorials to learn the ways of using a blush…or I could use this as an eyeshadow. balmblush.jpg

The last product is from Luna Cosmetics in a pink shade called Jace. This was the product I was most excited to see until I opened the packaging. The shadow has broken and loose shadow was all over. The eyeshadow containter was also broken so I don’t think I’ll be keeping this shadow which I am disappointed about because the color looks so pretty!jaceeye.jpg

To the bag! This was probably my most favorite thing about this Ipsy glam bag. It’s pretty cute and I love the lip and the color block pattern. IMG_8816.jpg

That was my June Ipsy bag! What did you get in your June Ipsy Glam bag?

Morning Routine!

Hello! I hope all is well with you. I recently wrote a post about my night time skin care routine so I thought I would do a morning skincare routine!

The first thing I do in the morning is splash my face with water because it feels so amazing to rinse my skin first thing in the morning.  Then, I like using my Garnier Micellar water to take off any dirt and oil that built up last night. Next I take my 98% Aloe Vera gel and apply it all over my face. I love how refreshing this makes my skin feel. It absorbs quickly and I love the smell of aloe vera. aloevfeat.jpg

Then I wil go to my Dermasil Retinol Oil free day cream and apply that. It is quite a thick moisturizer but it leaves my skin very hydrated and feeling plump.dermasilret.jpg

Once the moisturizer is absorbed I will take my Simple Skincare Protecting Light SPF 15 Moisturizer. I’ve finally been able to stay consistent with a facial sunscreen. It has the slightest scent of sunscreen and after using it for about half a year, I have never noticed a white cast that sunscreens tend to leave. I am loving this stuff!spfmorn.jpg

Now, I have to wake up my undereyes! I recently purchased H20’s Instant Hydrating Stick. It instantly feels so cool and icy which I absoutely love! I pat that in with my ring  finger and I am set!eyeh20.jpg

After all of this, I am ready for a day of makeup or a day hanging around the apartment watching Youtube videos, Netflix, and taking my pups to the park.

Book Review- #Girlboss by Sophia Amoruso

Hello! As written in a post at for what I hope to accomplish in 2017, I wanted to read more this year, and that’s just what I’ve been doing. #Girlboss by Sophia Amoruso is a book I have read before, but I love re-reading it to inspire me when I am feeling like I am becoming unmotivated. While this book has become a Netflix Original tv series, which is also pretty great, the book never fails to make me get up and do something with my life. gbquotepage.jpg

Sophia Amoruso’s #GirlBoss is filled with so many words that make my spirit, mind and creativity rise. The book instantly starts with an intro that says “I have three pieces of advice that I want you to remember: Don’t ever grow up. Don’t become a bore. Don’t ever let the Man get to you. Okay? Cool. Then let’s do this.” These words start off my mind in such a postive and empowering state and I am elated at the words to come.

Sophia states how she didn’t know what she wanted to do, but that she knew she was capable of something bigger. She struggled, she dug through dumpsters for bagels and shoplifted. This isn’t how one would think she came to her success with Nasty Gal. This is so relatable to me. I’ve never shoplifted or dug through dumpsters, but man do I struggle sometimes. I struggle to keep my mindfulness for positivity. But that’s how it goes. One must struggle a bit to get to where they want to be. While they struggle, they keep that determianation alive to keep going and fighting to make something of themselves.

gbmagicalthink.jpg

This book also talks about the power of magical thinking. If you believe in something and put all your work and focus into something, there is no reason why one can’t accomplish their goal to led their truest self. I love this chapter because I am trying to become more aware and more focused on what I want to do in my life and this clears my mind of the negative and the what if’s. Positive thinking can help one attain what they want if they make that switch in their minds to become and to have what they want.

IMG_7489.jpg

#GirlBoss is a book that gives me so much hope and so much fuel to put aside those negative thoughts and focus on my goals. It’s not easy, this book hasn’t ended those bad days where I feel like I am not getting the results I am looking for. However, this book is helping me understand that there will be bad days, and that I can shift myself in to a more positive place. This book reminds me to keep going and keep grinding out as much as I can. This book makes my failures and simply makes my story more interesting.

Records, Records, Records

Hello! Music is a very personal thing to me because it got me through those awkward and tough times in junior high/high school. I love that it mentally transports me back to a certain time. When records started coming back, I was constantly on the hunt for a record player and would go to the thrift store to find records. I had records before I even had a player. I love the sound a record player gives because it is so pure and you really do hear the true sound of the music that you wouldn’t hear if you were listening to it online, etc. Me and my boyfriend have accumluated records  over the years and while I am still on the hunt for those on my wishlist, I do have a handful of favorites that I wanted to share with you.

featuredrecords

The first is Bob Dylan: The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan. This record is so beautiful and I love hearing his voice vibrate my living room walls as I get ready for the day.  Bob Dylan’s music always puts me in a dreamy mood. dylanrecord.jpg

Favorite Songs: Girl From the North Country, A Hard Rain A-Gonna Fall, Bob Dylan’s Dream

The only thing southern about me is my love of biscuits and gravy, sweet tea and my love for the music of Johnny Cash. We recently were gifted The Legend of Johnny Cash and oh my goodness, I was ecstatic to be able to hear his music in this format. cashrec.jpg

Favorite Songs: Folsom Prison Blues, Jackson, Cry, Cry, Cry.

The Beatles will always have a special place in my heart because the time when I first listened to their music was a time where I was just about to graduate highschool and I was starting to see that life was about to change for me. This record was a true treasure that I believe is a greatest hits record. beatles.jpg

Favorite Songs. Eight Days a Week, I’ll Follow The Sun, In My Life, Norwegian Wood.

The last is the soundtrack of Breakfast At Tiffany’s. It is just the score but I am absolutely in love with the music. Audrey Hepburn was an inspiration for me during high school and after seeing Breakfast At Tiffany’s, Moon River was such a magical melody especially with Audrey Hepburn’s voice. batrecord2.jpg

And last is Nirvana-Nevermind. This album is amazing from start to finish and I love how gritty Kurt’s voice is and the way it sounds coming through the record player. It sounds so pure and clear.

nirvanarecrods.jpgFavorite Songs: In Bloom, Territorial Pissings, Drain You

Record Wish List: Now, Now-Threads, The Descendents- Milo Goes to College, Death Cab For Cutie- Transatlanticism, The Cranberries- Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We?

Thanks for reading!
